It's not the type of news that will overly worry Sony, but is slightly embarrassing nonetheless. During Nintendo's keynote speech at GDC, the company's president Satoru Iwata revealed that the number of Wii Balance Boards sold is almost the same as the number of Sony PS3s. The bar graph to the right demonstrates just how close the figures are. The top two lines are the Wii and Xbox 360, followed by the PS3 and Wii Balance Board respectively. Such huge sales certainly bode well for developers w

EA CFO Eric Brown has some interesting predictions for this console generation. Although a typical generation lasts about 5 or 6 years, Brown predicts this current one will last longer with more price cuts coming in the future. The reason for this anomaly? Well, according to Brown, there’s just not much to improve on from a technological standpoint. Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 can run high definition visuals at a 60 frames per second, and he believes we’ve almost hit a ceiling in the g

I don’t particularly despise Wii gaming console. Deep down, the new Nintendo is probably the most innovative and family-friendly entertainment on-the-budget’s package ever built. There’s no hulking graphic, “official support” of a legacy DVD playback or even output video beyond 480P, and hence the low price. In a nutshell, this fun little gaming console is not built to accommodate HD content. But with the success of Microsoft New Xbox Experience and PS3’s cornering the online video content, the

Hopefully this is not the case, I would much rather get something new even though RE3 is one of the best in the franchise. If they do go with RE2 I hope they don’t go back to the static camera

Readily burned into our minds are the obvious things like the Red Ring Of Death, and Xbox Live, but that’s only scratching the surface. Let’s pull back the outer layer and take a look at all of the little things that has helped advance the pastime of video gaming. Pre

Yes, this is another Wii rant. There are plenty of other articles talking about the poor recent game offerings, the hardware limitations, and the primitive online play. I’m not here to talk about those. Instead, I’m going to talk about the Wii’s software stack, and how it compares to other consoles. The Wii’s software architecture sucks. If you look at lists of software updates for the PS3 or the XBox 360, you’ll find things such as PS3 update 2.40, which made XMB available in-game, or XBox 360 u

A new gamepad known as the Classic Controller Pro will soon make its way for Nintendo’s Wii cosole. It serves as an alternative to the signature Wii remote for playing GameCube or Virtual Console titles. The controller features similar grips to those on an Xbox 360 controller with a notable rearrangement of all edge-mounted buttons to fit on the shoulders, as on the Playstation 3’s Sixaxis controller. The controller is set to be released in Japan sometime in the summer. [ Electronista ] Share
