Photo by echoforsberg “Today is the greatest day I’ve ever known. Can’t live for tomorrow.” - Smashing Pumpkins. Last December, when I lost my job at the peanut butter factory, I began to worry. The job market for peanut butter taste-testers has never been good, even in a boom economy. After a couple of weeks of looking for another job, I gave up, abandoned my family and McMansion, and moved to a seedy hotel. It didn’t occur to me that I’d be trading the stress of unemployment for t

It's been good to be Nintendo over the last three years, but all great things can't last forever, can they? Times Online reports ( via Gamasutra) that after cutting their 2008 profit forecast by a whopping 33 percent on Thursday, analysts are now questioning whether Nintendo's incredible success with the Wii may finally be slowing down. Nintendo attributed the surprising forecast ...

I don’t think I’ve been alone in this quest. Games have continually improved, graphically speaking, from 4-bit color to 8-bit color and on up to whatever bits we have now. More than enough, I’d say. Marketing hype for new consoles is based on graphics quality while on the PC, new video cards are coming out all the time offering better reso

“I think it is true that new information penetrates through the Japanese market very quickly and that Japanese people tend to get tired of something new very quickly. It is also true that the population is smaller when compared with that of other major markets, so it is inevitable that the market starts to feel saturated earlier than others. I don’t think any hardware can enjoy eternal life. Someday, we’ll need a new platform for sure, and of course, Nintendo is always preparing for that. Howeve

by Billy JeanThe Wii revolution. Most console gamers, hard core or casual will agree. The mighty Wii rules the roost. The Wii has given birth to a gaming phenomenon with parties and gatherings being organized by the ever increasing number of Wii groups. Not really surprising as the Nintendo Wii is more than just a game console. Its family entertainment, relaxation and even a fitness machine, all bundled into one neat package. The only downside to the Wii experience has to be the cost of the game

(By Elizabeth Leland, eleland@charlotteobserver.com) There was a time not so long ago when Delmar seemed to show up everywhere. If there was a party, in walked Delmar, invited or not. He made such an impression in Charlotte in the 1980s that hot pink “HONK if you know DELMAR!” bumper stickers popped up, like Delmar, all over town. It became fashionable to say you knew him, even if you didn't. ...

Who is suffering the most, or should I ask WHAT is suffering the most when it comes to playing Nintendo’s Wii? Just out of curiosity, I took a look around to see who was reporting what as far as Wii injuries/accidents go. By overwhelming numbers, it seems that the television sets are most victimized by Wii.

Sony's greatest success in the game space is most certainly the PlayStation 2; it's sold an obscene number of consoles across the world and clearly cemented Sony as the winner last generation. As daunting as the numbers it posted are, they didn't stop Nintendo president Satoru Iwata from talking about the Wii and DS surpassing the PS2's final install base in an investor briefing ...
